There are many ways to treat the person looking back at you in the mirror. When you look at yourself, do you feel acceptance and compassion, or judgment? Your answer to this question determines how you will care for yourself!
I invite you to choose two words to describe how you would like to see the person looking at you in the mirror…your 'ideal self'. It's important to understand that you do have a relationship with everyone... including yourself! ~ Is your relationship with who you see in the mirror loving, or is it overly critical?
Growth and change occur best in the soil of loving acceptance. So don't wait...it's important to make peace with who you are now...while not approving of behaviors that are out of alignment with your core values. While God’s love is constant, He never hesitates to reprove actions that are less than loving!
The next time you look in the mirror, with your attention fully present on the one you see, please do me a favor ~ and acknowledge:
~ That, just like me… this person has known sadness, loneliness and despair.
~ That, just like me… this person is learning about life.
~ That, just like me… this person is seeking peace that anchors the soul in turbulent times.
And in case this person looking back at you has forgotten…look at today’s sunrise or sunset…colored by a Creator who makes no mistakes. ~ You were made in His image!
My prayer is that you have such a revelation of the price He paid to be in relationship with you, that you will never again question the value of the person you see in the mirror!
~ Until next week... Blessings, Deb
